Be a Porch Hero This Saturday

Happy Friday, Reader!

"Why are we leaving food on the front porch? Is it for the bears?"

I had to smile at my 6 year-olds honest question.

She was a little puzzled when we filled up a grocery bag and left it hanging off the handle of our mailbox.

It's been a few years since she asked this question.

Now the kids know to watch for this day every year.

Because sometimes food scarcity doesn't look like empty cupboards.

Sometimes it looks like a hardworking family just trying to make their can of corn feed a five extra mouths.

That’s why I’m so grateful for the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive—the nation’s largest one-day food drive, led by our very own USPS postal workers.

This Saturday, May 10th, you can help make a difference without going any further than your front door.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Fill a bag with non-perishable food items (cans, pasta, rice, peanut butter).
  2. Leave it by your mailbox before your mail carrier arrives.
  3. They’ll do the rest—collecting the food and delivering it to local food banks.

It’s simple. It’s powerful. And for families in your community, it could mean one less skipped meal.

Let’s show up with full hearts—and full bags.

With love,

Micah

Happy Friday, Reader! Last year, we were sitting on the front porch, the kids holding their little sparklers and waiting (not-so-patiently) for the neighbor's fireworks to start. When the first sparkler lit up, my youngest whispered, “It's like Jesus' light.” It caught me off guard. Because in that moment—surrounded by the noise, the humidity, the chaos—I saw what he saw. Awe. Wonder. Light in the darkness. And I thought, our freedom really is a gift from above. That night reminded me how...

Last week, I found myself scrambling to organize a last-minute family event. Between juggling schedules, meal planning, and keeping the kids entertained, I was feeling overwhelmed. Then I remembered something small but powerful—a printable planner I had saved from my favorite shop. That little sheet helped me map out the day in minutes. Suddenly, everything felt more manageable. The kids were happy with a fun activity sheet, and I could breathe knowing I had a clear plan in front of me. This...

Happy Friday, Reader! Every 4th of July, after the hot dogs are eaten and the sparklers have fizzled out, my crew knows exactly what’s coming next… Pajamas. Blue Bell ice cream. And a patriotic movie. It started one summer when my youngest was scared of the fireworks. Instead of going to the big show, we pulled out a blanket, snuggled on the couch, and I told them the story of when aliens attacked America on the 4th of July. (Yes, it was Independence Day movie with Will Smith, but they were...
