Making books feel special again

Happy Thursday, Reader!

Somewhere along the way, reading can start to feel like just another task.

Another thing to check off. Another part of the routine.

And I never want it to feel like that—for them or for me.

So every once in a while, I try to make books feel special again.

Nothing big or complicated.

Just a small change—an activity, a theme, something that turns reading into an experience instead of a requirement.

And this small action is making a big difference.

They have more excitement, more curiosity, and there's been more connection.

If you want an easy way to do that, this World Book Day Activity Pack is a fun place to start:

You can pick up your own copy and make books feel fresh again.

With love,

Micah

Happy Thursday, Reader! Have you ever had one of those moments where something so simple ends up saving the day? That was me recently. The kids were restless, I was running low on energy, and nothing I suggested was landing. You know the feeling. So I pulled out something easy—no big explanation, no setup—and within minutes, they were focused, calm, and actually enjoying themselves. It felt like a small win… but honestly, those are the ones that carry the day. That’s why I love having simple...

Happy Thursday, Reader! There are parts of motherhood that no one claps for. The dishes that get washed and dirtied again. The meals made without a thank you.The emotional weight you carry for everyone in your home. It’s a quiet kind of giving. And sometimes, if we’re honest, it can feel heavy on our hearts. But something I’ve been holding onto lately is this:God sees what others don’t. Every small act of love.Every moment you choose patience when it would be easier not to.Every time you show...

Happy Thursday, Reader! I almost skipped reading time the other day. It had been one of those afternoons—messy, loud, and longer than expected. But one of my kids brought me a book and asked, “Will you read this with me?” And I hesitated… just for a second. Because I was tired. But I said yes. We sat down, and something shifted. They got quiet. And for those few minutes, we all felt connected again. It reminded me that reading together isn’t just about the book. It’s about presence. If you’re...
