When your kids say “I’m bored…”

Happy Wednesday, Reader!

“I’m bored.”

I heard it three times before breakfast the other day.

And if I’m honest, my first instinct was to fix it.
To jump in with ideas, solutions, something to fill the gap.

Because as moms, we feel this quiet pressure to make sure our kids are always learning, always doing, always okay.

But this time, I paused.

Because I’ve started to notice something: boredom isn’t the problem we think it is.

It’s actually the beginning of possibility for them.

A few minutes later, one of my kids started drawing.

Another built something completely random out of things around the house.

What looked like “nothing to do” turned into creativity I couldn’t have planned myself.

That’s when it clicked again… they don’t need me to fill every space.

They just need a starting point sometimes.

If you want something simple to offer that little nudge without overcomplicating things, I made these spring creativity prompts:

They’re easy, open-ended, and give kids just enough direction to get their imagination going.

Boredom isn’t something to rush past—it’s often where creativity begins.

We don’t need to entertain our kids every moment… we just need to trust that they’re capable of creating something beautiful with a little space.

You’re doing enough. Truly.

With love,

Micah

Happy Wednesday, Reader! Yesterday, we stepped outside for what I thought would be just a few minutes. No big plans. No structured activity. I honestly just needed a breath of fresh air. But then something sweet happened. The kids started noticing things I usually rush past—ants carrying crumbs, the shape of leaves, the way the wind moved the trees. One of them asked a question I didn’t know the answer to… and instead of rushing to Google it, we just wondered together. (Yes, we Googled it...

Happy Wednesday, Reader! This morning started with spilled milk… literally. Half my kids couldn’t find their shoes, the other half wanted an extended weekend, and I stood there in the kitchen thinking, it's a Monday. Have you ever felt that before the day even really begins? I remember leaning against the counter, closing my eyes for just a second, and whispering, “Lord, it's you and me today. I've only got this because you're with me.” And you know what didn’t happen? The house didn’t...
