The moment learning “clicked”

Happy Friday, Reader!

There was this small moment recently that stuck with me.

I had been explaining something… probably not very clearly, if I’m honest. And I wasn’t even sure it was landing.

Then suddenly, one of my kids looked up and said,
“Ohhh… I get it now.”

Not because I said it perfectly.
But because something connected for them.

And it reminded me of something I forget sometimes: kids don’t just need information—they need connection.

They need to see it, feel it, and experience it in a way that makes sense to them.

That’s why I’ve started leaning more into making learning feel like a story rather than just a subject to get through.

If you’re teaching early American history, this Colonial History Unit was created with that in mind.

It helps bring those early roots to life in a way that’s simple, meaningful, and engaging.

You can take a sneak peek and see what's inside.

And just remember, even on the days you’re unsure… you’re planting seeds that will grow later.

With love,

Micah

Happy Friday, Reader! Can I just say this out loud? Some days feel full of energy and intention… and some days feel like you’re just trying to make it to bedtime. We all have those days Nothing's going terribly wrong—but everything feels a little harder than usual. Your kids needed more. You have less to give. And the thought of planning something “meaningful” feels overwhelming. So, instead of pushing through, chose simple. It'll change the entire tone of the day. Your kids will still be...

Happy Friday, Reader! “I’m bored.” I heard it three times before breakfast the other day. And if I’m honest, my first instinct was to fix it.To jump in with ideas, solutions, something to fill the gap. Because as moms, we feel this quiet pressure to make sure our kids are always learning, always doing, always okay. But this time, I paused. Because I’ve started to notice something: boredom isn’t the problem we think it is. It’s actually the beginning of possibility for them. A few minutes...

Happy Friday, Reader! Yesterday, we stepped outside for what I thought would be just a few minutes. No big plans. No structured activity. I honestly just needed a breath of fresh air. But then something sweet happened. The kids started noticing things I usually rush past—ants carrying crumbs, the shape of leaves, the way the wind moved the trees. One of them asked a question I didn’t know the answer to… and instead of rushing to Google it, we just wondered together. (Yes, we Googled it...
